Sam Pan Bok

Sam Pan Bok
Ubon Ratchathani Travel Guide Videos

Samphan-bok is the big cataract in the middle of the Mekong River, located in Phorsai district, Ubonratchathani province. The cataract itself is a big stone platform lying under the River. The large amount of water in the rainy season running fiercely against the rocks creates more than thousands of holes. “Bok” is a dialect which means a hole so “Samphan-bok” means Three thousand holes. This beautiful scene which fascinated tourists is only appeared in the late winter and summer once water levels have been dropped.
